Challenges with the Gitlab password

We encountered several challanges users have with Gitlab and its login over time:

The confirmation eMail for the initial login / The password reset eMail

I did not receive the eMail:

I dont know to which email address or mailbox Gitlab has send the confirmation / password reset eMail

The issue here lies with the usage of a not standard-conform mailclient. The fastest solution is our Webmailclient.

Forgotten initial Password

I do not have the initial Password because I forgot it, did not remember it when it was displayed etc.

In this case you can go to the sign-in page of gitlab. There you will find the “Forgot password?” Link to the right above the “sign in” button. Hit that link. Enter yout CIP Mailaddress on the next page. Should you not know your CIP Mailaddress you can look it up by login into CipConf with your LMU Campus Id. After finishing the Gitlab Password Reset Dialogs an eMail with a password reset link will be sent to your CIP Mailaddress. If you experience troubles with accessing that eMail please read above. IMPORTANT: you need to activate yout gitlab account through the link in the initial eMail before you can reset your password. If you no longer have this eMail please contact the RBG.
